Nagqu County, under the Nagqu region of Tibet, is the political center, economic center, cultural center, transportation center, information center and communication center of northern Tibet. The average elevation of Nagqu County is above 4,450 meters, with a total area of 160,000 square kilometers.
It stands to reason that such an important place and such a wide area should not have a single tree even if it is located in the relatively harsh environment of Tibet.
Why can't Nagqu County keep living trees?
In the vast area of Nagqu, there are many precious wild animals. Rare animals such as antelope and swans are not uncommon. There are also precious plants such as cordyceps and snow lotus in this land. At the same time, there are also many precious mineral resources.
Nagqu is located in the north of Tibet, between the Tanggula Mountain Range and the Nyainqentanglha Mountain Range. Here, at a glance, we can see the rolling mountains and the vast expanse of the grassland. Many important rivers also flow through here. Lakes, snow waters, grasslands, although the environment here is fragile, but also has a different kind of beauty.
There are many reasons for the inability of the tree species in Nagqu:
If people want to stand, they must stand. If a tree wants to grow tall, it must have a firm root. Nagqu is located in a high-altitude area, and a thin layer of frozen soil is distributed in this area. The natural fertility of frozen soil is very low, and it is unbearable for many simple agricultural activities without modification. As the season changes and the temperature in Nagqu changes, freezing and thawing of frozen soil will occur. Supporting the grassland is its limit, let alone the trees.
If the roots are not firmly established, naturally they cannot withstand the baptism of the gale.
Nagqu's mountains are widespread, and in the plateau hilly terrain, raging winds are naturally indispensable. Every winter, the land of Nagqu will be raged by strong winds, and the natural passages formed between the mountains strengthen the wind's narrow tube effect.
How many plants can survive this strong wind? Maybe, even the big trees that have grown can't withstand such wind. What's more, the newly planted saplings were dying after experiencing such a strong wind.
Therefore, it is difficult to take root and grow, which is also an important reason why the tree species in Nagqu do not live.
Water is the source of life, and the growth of trees is naturally inseparable from water.
The land in Nagqu cannot hold water, which is an important reason why there are no trees in Nagqu County. The soil layer in Nagqu is shallow, although the amount of precipitation is not small, but because the permeable capacity of frozen soil is too strong, there is a lot of water, but the soil cannot hold water, and trees cannot easily obtain water; the frozen soil layer is important for the root development of most trees It is a huge obstacle. The root system is not developed and the ability of trees to absorb water is also poor. In addition, under the influence of various factors such as light, water is also an important factor restricting the survival of Nagqu trees.
The inability of the tree species in Nagqu is not only from simple factors such as light and hot water, but also from many other factors of its environment, which together constitute the hometown of lost souls of the tree in Nagqu.
However, even though Mother Earth did not bring trees to Nagqu, the diligent and wise Nagqu people are still working hard to make the trees take root in this land.
From ancient times to the present, people living on this land of Nagqu have not given up the idea of letting trees grow on this land .
As human beings have become more and more capable of transforming the natural world, Nagqu people also began to "reform" in Nagqu.
In the early days, Nagqu introduced many tree species with relatively strong viability. Once, many tree species that could survive and develop in the desert, on the snowfield, and on the high mountains were transplanted to this land. Although the transplanted species are all tenacious tree species, the living conditions of these trees are not very good in this famous tree-free village...
Despite many attempts, the title of "Wushu Township" is still difficult to get rid of.
At that time, it was still difficult for people to overcome the complicated and changeable climate on the plateau and the unique geographical environment.
With the development of the times and the advancement of science and technology, a lot of "steel forests" have also been added to Nagqu. "Trees" made of cement and steel have appeared on this land. With the emergence of more and more "steel forests" in Nagqu, people living in this land of Nagqu have more and more eagerness for real trees to appear.
Even at that time, someone offered a reward, hoping that a tree could grow in that song. Although many people tried, no one succeeded in planting. The amount of the reward is getting higher and higher, reaching hundreds of thousands at one time, just to find the tree that can survive in Nagqu .
The country responded to the wishes of many people who have deep hopes for trees like the Nagqu people . The Tibet Autonomous Region has successively implemented large-scale national greening operations such as eliminating "treeless villages", "treeless households", and "treeless units". Nagqu, the famous "treeless township", has naturally become an important object of care.
Gradually, thanks to the efforts of the Nagqu government and the people of Nagqu, as the scientific research team settled down, many projects that were not able to be started that year began to start, and more and more people were invested in planting trees in Nagqu.
The Nagqu government also built a special trial planting base. After a long period of scientific research and experimentation, trees began to be planted scientifically on the land of Nagqu.
In March 2017, the Nagqu government even launched the demonstration project of key technology research and development and greening model of urban plants in Nagqu City.
The people of Nagqu are getting closer and closer to the answer to this thousand-year problem
After years of planting and improvement, alpine willow, a tree with strong vitality, has adapted to the complex environment of Nagqu and survived in this land .
Today, Nagqu is also covered with this hard-won green seedlings. I believe that one day, Nagqu will become a garden of Eden of trees on the plateau.
Even if the gods are not beautiful, even after many attempts, they have failed. The people who live in that song have not forgotten their original dream. After many efforts, trees have grown in the song that originally had no trees.
In life, we all encounter difficulties. Many people feel that hope and the future are invisible, so many people give up early.
