As for Chiang Ching-kuo’s misbelief and misuse of Lee Teng-hui, we can see from Chiang Ching-kuo’s diary and his thinking that there are many misunderstandings in Jiang Ching-kuo’s views and perceptions of Lee Teng-hui. Let me cite a few misunderstandings.
The first misunderstanding is that Jiang Jingguo mistakenly thought that Lee Teng-hui was an outstanding and rare scientific talent.
I think this is a great misunderstanding. In fact, in 1949, the Kuomintang authorities brought in many scientific talents from the mainland, and there are also many scientific talents in Taiwan. Compared with these talents, Lee Teng-hui is just a general generation. However, we can see his preference for Lee Teng-hui from Jiang Jingguo's diary.
He wrote in his diary that the first time he met with the newly appointed "Administrative Councillor" Lee Teng-hui, he was very speculative and was an outstanding scientific talent. Later, Lee Teng-hui became the mayor of Taipei, and Jiang Jingguo praised him in his diary, saying that the chairman has work enthusiasm and new scientific concepts, and he is a talent that can be cultivated.
The second misunderstanding is that Jiang Jingguo believes that Lee Teng-hui, like him, is a very approachable politician who follows the civilian route.
In fact it is not like this. Everyone now knows very well that Lee Teng-hui is a very arrogant intellectual, and he is a person with very strong bourgeois thinking. How could he be a civilian line?
We can see from Chiang Ching-kuo’s diary that Lee Teng-hui’s skill in deceiving him into organizing is very high. Chiang Ching-kuo’s diary wrote that Jiang Ching-kuo invited several friends to dinner in an ancient temple in Sanzhi Township, Lee Teng-hui’s hometown, with the chairman of the board as the host. The food was Taiwanese hometown cuisine and he had a lot of talk and laughter. Look at this time Jiang Jingguo has already entered the trap, and has been fooled by Lee Teng-hui for a while.
The third misunderstanding of Chiang Ching-kuo's cognition is that Lee Teng-hui is a good man who loves the country and the nation.
Chiang Ching-kuo said that Lee Teng-hui "was heartbroken for bullying by the Japanese when he was young, and he was full of national consciousness." Lee Teng-hui wrote a blood book when he was 22 years old, to the Emperor of Japan, saying that he would serve the Japanese Empire and be a soldier. The blood book information is still there. Why does Jiang Jingguo have such a serious misunderstanding? It is really incredible.
Who knows Lee Teng-hui? Of course, only Americans are contemporary. I think that in the era of Chiang Ching-kuo’s appointment of Lee Teng-hui, the people who knew Lee Teng-hui best were the US representatives in Taiwan, including James R. Lilley.
As for Li Jieming's knowledge of Lee Teng-hui, I think Li Jieming knows all about the black materials from Lee Teng-hui's past era of Japanese occupation, the black materials from studying in the United States, and the black materials from contacts with "Taiwan independence" elements.
why? Because all Taiwanese who go to study in the United States, whether you are in university, graduate school, or doctoral program, you have to pass through the U.S. secret service, but you don’t know it, you don’t know whether you passed. The customs of the intelligence unit. After passing the test, if American intelligence agencies want to absorb you, they will contact you in a very skillful way to absorb you.
Whether Lee Teng-hui has passed this barrier, I think there must be. Because he has studied in the United States from the master's class to the doctoral class. During the six or seven years, will the US secret service not contact him?
The other said that in the second millennium AD, when Lee Teng-hui was about to step down, he presented a medal to Li Jieming. Li Jieming was not the representative in Taiwan at that time. I think that Lee Teng-hui’s award of the medal had two motives for Li Jieming.
First, I would like to thank Li Jieming for putting pressure on Jiang Jingguo and creating objective conditions conducive to Jiang Jingguo's appointment of Lee Teng-hui. Of course Li Jieming is not too stupid to say, Mr. Jingguo asks you to use Li Tenghui. Li Jieming and Lao Mei use a very feminine means to create favorable conditions for who you want to use or not to use.
Li Tenghui's second intention of thanking Li Jieming is to say, thanking Li Jieming for helping him keep the secret. Of course, the first criterion of intelligence work is to keep secrets. Li Jieming has the most black materials of Lee Tenghui in his hands, but he keeps secrets, at least not telling Jiang Jingguo about these black materials.
Why did Li Jieming do this action? In fact, Lee Tenghui shouldn't be too wishful. It's not that Li Jieming likes to love Lee Tenghui so much. Li Jieming and Lee Teng-hui do not have any relatives or friends at all. The only relationship is that Li Jieming protects Lee Teng-hui from becoming Jiang Jingguo’s deputy. This purpose is to protect the national interests of the United States.
Because Li Jieming knows very well that it is the easiest to destroy the fortress from the inside of the fortress. Lee Teng-hui is the most suitable for lurking in this, lurking next to the heart of your Chiang Ching-kuo; if this time bomb is detonated, it is most in line with the national interests of the United States and the most capable Let the two sides of the strait split for a long time. This is one role Lee Teng-hui can produce.
Therefore, we are worthy of attention. The fundamental purpose of the imperialists for "Taiwan independence" or to foster "Taiwan independence" is definitely not for the interests of a small group of people in Taiwan, not for the interests of Lee Teng-hui, and absolutely for the national interests of the United States. Therefore, Lee Teng-hui, a small group of people, used the imperialists' purpose and intentions to accomplish their personal ambitions and self-interest. So this can be said to be exploiting each other.
